I had another great "business" get-a-way to Seattle. It didn't hurt that it was sunny and beautiful. I started out by delivering our first (and hopefully many more) run of ice cream to the Space needle - http://www.spaceneedle.com/ . In case you are going to Seattle, live in Seattle, or just HAVE to have a "smaller" version of a Ruby Jewel then head up and up and up to the observation deck where they should be selling our ice cream sandwiches. I am so excited about this outlet and hope it proves to be successful. I then drove up to Issaquah to meet with some very nice women at coroporate Costco. I was hardly prepared, and brought only a "demo" Peanut butter and chocolate sandwich. My car was packed to the rim with ice cream and dry ice, I literally didn't have room for any more ice cream. Anyhow, they seemed interested in the Ruby Jewel story and thought there could be a possibility to do a road show or sell on costco.com. I then drove north to do a demo at Shoreline Central Market. I LOVE Central Markets, They have such a great layout, selection, and truly the best prices. Ruby Jewel's sell for $3.39! There was a very friendly employee who got a kick out of making announcements every 7 minutes that Lisa was up from Portland sampling ice cream across from the frozen pizza. I stayed with my good friends Dave, Jenna, Mika, and Alex. They are so great to host me when I go up to Seattle. The next day was the Whole Foods Roosevelt Sq. Loco for Locals day. It was fun- great to be outside demoing ice cream (especially when I already had a ton of dry ice left)
I then went to Amy, Elliot, Niko, and Maxines house for some flank steak tacos. It was great to see them and I also got some insight on how to build a deck.
The next day was a demo at the Mill Creek Central Market- did I mention that I LOVE these stores. The demo was a big hit. I had at least 2 people tell me they buy them already. I love hearing that totally random people are buying Ruby Jewels
BUT, the absolute HIGHLIGHT of my trip was believe it or not.... my meeting with my attorney and the attorney from Jewel. I have faith in humanity
. All good things and I am grateful that I'll be able to sell ice cream sandwiches at Whole Foods Markets in Chicago some day. My family will be glad to hear it.
Next, I am off to Southern California. Stay tuned.
